Dr. A. K. Sinha, IAS (Retd.) is the Founder, the Mentor & the Force behind Punjab International Public School, Pojewal, India. An alumnus of Scindia School Gwalior (1949-1954) & having Ph.D. in Public Administration from Panjab University, Chandigarh, he has over four decades of rich educational experience.
His vision begins beyond the regular school curricula & spans in the areas of innovative holistic approach towards total child development, combining the text, the visuals, the art and the science on one hand and convergence of mind, body & soul on the other. Having dedicated his heart & soul towards this endeavour, PIPS carries this pulse and today proudly stands apart and strives for Excellence Everywhere.
The school is affiliated with the Council of Indian Certificate of School Education ICSE (www.cisce.org) for class X examinations vide Regn. No. PU065/2009 dated – 03/03/2009.
Presently ICSE Affiliation is upto 10th Standard. It is proposed to upgrade the Affiliation upto 12th Standard by Academic Session 2027-28.
Objectives of ICSE
Perfect suitable representation of governments responsible for schools (which are affiliated to it) in their states/territories;
the Inter – State Board for Anglo- Indian Education; the Association of Indian Universities; the Association of Head of Anglo- Indian Schools, the Indian Public School Conference; the Association of Schools for the ISCE Examination and eminent educationists.
The objective of the Council is educational and includes the promotion of science, literature, the fine arts and the diffusion of useful knowledge by conducting school examination through the medium of English. The Council exists solely for educational purpose and not for purpose of profit.
PIPS has a Vision of creating a cosmopolitan outlook in every child that joins the School. It aims at providing a strong moral foundation for the development of the child’s personality, without getting into the polemics of religion. The inculcation of the spirit of tolerance along with the determination to achieve & the desire to excel in all the endeavours is the central objective of the School’s Mission.

Punjab International Public School at Shivalik Hills, Pojewal was established adjacent to IITT College of Engineering in the year 2003. After receiving permanent affiliation from ICSE in 2009, the Day School was expanded to reach a strength of 600+ students. In 2017, based on the experience and ambience of SCINDIA School, Gwalior, wherein two Generations of the Promoters of PIPS had studied, including Chairman Dr. AK Sinha (IAS retd.) himself being in SCINDIA School from 1949 to 1954, and with the backup of insight provided by two cousins of the Chairman who have studied at DOON School, Dehradun, it was decided by the Board of Governors of PIPS to add Residential Boarding facilities in the Campus. Accordingly, the Dormitory-based Junior Hostel Block was launched, which in two sessions recorded boarding strength of 46 children – 38 boys on first floor and 08 girls on ground floor. And then, to the utter dismay of the Promoters, Corona Covid-19 struck the world. The situation in Punjab, with rail and road infrastructure and entry/exit to Punjab having been badly hit by the farmers agitation, the Boarding School session collapsed. There was complete disruption of education services throughout India and particularly in Punjab and the attempt of PIPS for IB curriculum (International Baccalaureate-The Gold Standard of Education Worldwide) also failed and the school was virtually closed and derailed.
After the withdrawal of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2022, the Board of Governors decided to reintroduce the Boarding School concept with an initial startup-small contingent of Day school. Accordingly, a small contingent of Day school started functioning during the summer of 2023-24 and continues with focus on revival of the Boarding School. The year 2024-25 was spent in promoting this idea and the year 2025-26 will be the first year of full operation of a SCINDIA School Model Boarding School under the name and style of Punjab International Public School. It will be relevant to add that the Infrastructural Facilities, the Day Schedule, the Food Menu and the Hostels are patterned on the above two named well known schools of Gwalior and Dehradun, with the addition of computers and robotics in the classroom and Room-based Hostels for senior class students, in a 105 Acres Campus in the lap of Shivalik Hills in Punjab.
This website provides a glimpse of all the facilities, amenities and services provided by PIPS with a requisite infrastructure created in the lap of Shivalik Hills Pojewal in Punjab, which is just 91 Kms. from Chandigarh and located on Guru Tegh Bahadur State Highway.
