Extra Curricular

Apart from academics, the School curriculum keeps in mind the capabilities of each student, which has been designed in a way that the school activities help students learn and practice skills that help them express themselves with their individuality. To nurture the talent of each child, school has made extensive arrangements that enable the students to learn different arts, crafts and sciences. The school provides a rich variety of activities namely electronics, photography, clay modelling, wood work, etc.

Apart from enhancing the skills of a student the school offers extensive playfields for physical growth, with sports like Tennis, Squash, Football, Skating, Swimming, Basketball etc.

From Nursery to Grade 10 PIPS encourages a love of reading, both for the sheer joy of it and because it is the most useful technological tool in the student’s range of skills. In addition to formal (silent) work-stations, the Library-Media Centre not only features real books but also quiet story-telling corners and even a space where students can read and relax. The courses of study with School provide for books & readable material from wide range of sources in India & Abroad , including England ,Europe & America

PIPS Pojewal lay great emphasis on the development of the Child’s Personality as a whole. Towards this objective & aware of the varied nature of latent talents, various Extra – curricular facilities have been created in the Campus.

All three School Buildings have facility for Music Studios (with Guitar, Violin, Casio, Drums, Mandolin, Tabla etc.) covering both Indian & Western Music Systems. A separate Art & Design Studio & a separate Dance Studio along with separate Computer Studios / Rooms are integral part of the School. Photography as a hobby is encouraged taking advantage of the Computer Centers

With the Art & Design Studio for the Visual Arts (Primary, Middle & Senior), the students are offered a variety of artistic activities including drawing & painting, pottery & Sculpture, Mural art, Clay modelling, Print making, Tie & Die, Doll-making & Paper cutting & pasting etc.

For expression of the talents, the Campus has an Open-Air Amphitheatre, where Boys & Girls can express their talents in various fields like Music, Dance, Drama & Theatre. A Multi – purpose Hall is also available for Social & cultural gatherings & Indoor Performances.

PIPS has an extensive campus of 105 Acres in the sylvan surroundings of Shivalik Hills & located onGuru Teg Bahadur State Highway Linking the Golden Temple Amritsar With the holy city of Anandpur Sahib

Today, our daily lives are filled with limitations and rules. One place, probably only place in the entire universe where there are no rules and regulations is in the world of music. PIPS wants students to be able to express their own ideas, live in their own world able to learn what kind of a person they are from the inside

India’s topography, flora and fauna and varied Cultural & Social systems provide vast resources for organising Tours & Excursions. The School arranges & organises Short & Medium Duration Tours during

Vacations to places of Historical, Cultural & Religious importance Educational and Adventure camps will be held Annually and Students from Grade 2 onwards are made to explore, appreciate and connect with nature. This strengthens the bonds of inter-dependence and helps our students understand and value of natural resources. It also teaches them adaptability and conservation. The School organises of short as well as medium tours during Vacations. Tours to places of historical, cultural and religious importance. The excursions are properly planned and supervised. Children are provided  all study materials on return from the tour, they are expected to make presentations on their experiences.

We provide various instruments for the students including but not limited to:
  • Guitars
  • Drums
  • Keyboards
  • Vocals
  • Brass
  • Violin
  • Tabla
  • HSitar
  • Tanpura

Introductory Lessons are provided in basic tenets of Dance and Theatre. Students are introduced to the main Classical Dances of Indian Culture such as Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, Manipuri, etc. Occasionally arrangements are made for teaching Folk and Regional Dances, which are linked to various Indian Festivals.

Teachers organise and train eager children for dramatic events and performances at the Open Air Theatre in the Campus. The School provides proper outfits and resources for organising such Events.

Evening Prayers are held at the “Sunset Point” and is a unique ceremony which takes place every evening at sunset time. All students clad in white kurta pyjama sit in silence for a minute and a half, facing the sunset hill or at “Sunset Point” or at “Chhattri”. In a silence they watch the sun go down. The whole concept is to give the child a minute or two to be with himself, with nature and reflect upon himself or meditate. Occasionally, there is a faculty member who talks about anything related to school life or a thought of the day or play some live music.

The PIPS “Week Without Walls” (WWW) Program provides students with unique cultural, personal, interpersonal and environmental experiences not available on the PIPS campus. From these experiences students are expected to learn, reflect, and grow as responsible citizens.

By providing authentic and direct exposure to Indian Life in villages and outside areas PIPS expects to nurture in the child a better understanding and appreciation of Indian culture and geography, develop new friendships as well as strengthen existing ones in the PIPS community, increase respect for the environment and local culture through exposure to unique habitats and the effect of human populations on land provide opportunities for personal reflection, self-awareness and self-reliance.

NCC is proposed to be introduced in the School during the Academic Session 2020-21.

Social service has been an integral part of PIPS since its inception.

Soft skills is a sociological term relating to a person’s “EQ” (Emotional Intelligence Quotient), the cluster of personality traits, social graces, communication, language, personal habits, friendliness, and optimism that characterise relationships with other people.

Soft skills complement hard skills (part of a person’s IQ), which are the technical requirements of a job and many other activities.

PIPS occasionally organises Sessions for kids to help them learn Soft Skills like communication, teamwork, etc. to build up confidence and leadership qualities.

Sports at PIPS is an important part of the balance that the School strives to achieve in its approach towards Extra-curricular activities. There is a long and proud tradition of excellence in sports, but importantly the School aims to cater for the competence level of each individual student, and to provide him/her with the competition and coaching that is going to ensure that he/she grows in confidence and enjoys the sport at every level at which he/she is competing.

The Campus has a regular Sports Stadium overlooking play fields, toe-walled on all sides, for football & hockey, a Cricket Pitch & a 400 meters Athletics Track. A well – equipped Gym & Fitness Centre (providing for Cardio, Strength & Stretching) adorns the Stadium. An attractive Play Station adjacent thereto for Junior School Children adds colour to all Playfields.

At separate & different locations within the Campus, there are Tennis Hard Courts, Volley Ball & Badminton Courts & a Basket Ball Court. There are Two Squash Courts with a spectators Gallery & dedicated Table Tennis & Billiards (proposed) facility. A separate Indoor Excellent Roller Skating Rink alongwith Badminton Courts provide an enviable experience to the children of all ages. And a Swimming Pool has been provided for Budding Swimmers, wherein the water is chlorine – free treated with ozone technology.

Appropriate facilities have been provided for Pistol & Rifle Shooting Targets. As the Campus is located on a picturesque hillock, stress is laid on exercises related to Hill – climbing & Trekking. Every Hostel Block has facility for Table Tennis & other Indoor Games Plus Badminton Courts within the Hostel Complex.
