Forest Learning At PIPS: Looking At Nature Through A Mathematical Lens

Young children strive to understand the world around them, and forests provide endless opportunities for learning and exploration. In this story, students welcomed us to watch how they rethink their surroundings during their Forest Math class.

  • Forming small groups, students selected the elements in nature from which they wanted to collect data.
  • After that, each group gathered the elements from their members at the table as a visual guide.
  • Moving forward, groups created a dashboard showcasing their findings.
  • Finally, they photographed their dashboards and elements to continue the Math Class indoors.

At PIPS, the forest is now also an outdoor classroom, as our campus is surrounded by the beautiful landscape.

Learning in Action provides authentic windows into life and learning at PIPS.
